SENDER MISZPUTEN AWARD 2026 REGULATIONS
CHAPTER I
Purpose and General Provisions
Article 1
The Sender Miszputen Award, granted by the Brazilian Organization for Crohn’s Disease and Colitis (GEDIIB), aims to encourage research in the field of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and shall be awarded to the author(s) of the best scientific works presented during the 7th Brazilian Week of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (SEBRADII 2026).
Sole Paragraph
The award shall be granted to the best scientific works classified as Original Research or Meta-analyses, selected in accordance with these Regulations.
Article 2
The Sender Miszputen Award shall be granted to the three highest-ranked scientific works (Original Research or Meta-analysis), awarded first, second, and third place in the following categories:
- Medical Category, defined according to the medical qualification of the first author.
- Multidisciplinary Category (Nursing, Nutrition, Psychology, Biomedical Sciences, Physical Therapy, Enterostomal Therapy, Pharmacy, and related fields), defined according to the non-medical professional background of the first author.
CHAPTER II
Eligibility for the Award
Article 3
There is no limit to the number of authors. However, at least one author must be registered for the 7th Brazilian Week of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (SEBRADII 2026), be a GEDIIB member, and be in good standing with the organization.
Sole Paragraph
The Executive Secretariat of SEBRADII 2026 shall determine the membership and financial status of the author(s) with GEDIIB.
Article 4
Scientific works classified as Original Research or Meta-analysis, submitted to and approved for presentation at the 7th Brazilian Week of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (SEBRADII 2026), shall automatically participate in the selection process for the Sender Miszputen Award, provided they comply with Article 3 of these Regulations and with the Scientific Abstract Submission Guidelines.
Sole Paragraph
Works previously published as full articles in national or international journals may not be submitted to SEBRADII 2026.
Case Reports, pivotal studies, and pharmaceutical industry-sponsored or industry-initiated studies shall not be eligible for the Sender Miszputen Award.
CHAPTER III
Selected Scientific Works
Article 5
The three highest-ranked Original Research or Meta-analysis submissions from the Medical and Multidisciplinary categories will compete for the Sender Miszputen Award and will be presented orally during a Plenary Session at the 7th Brazilian Week of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (SEBRADII 2026).
Presentations will consist of a 5-minute PowerPoint presentation, with no question-and-answer session. The date and time of the presentation will be communicated at a later stage.
If the first author is unable to attend, the authors may appoint a substitute presenter, provided that:
- The substitute presenter holds a medical degree for submissions entered in the Medical Category; or
- The substitute presenter has qualifications in one of the non-medical fields defined in Article 2 for submissions entered in the Multidisciplinary Category.
Authors ranked 4th through 6th place in each category (Medical and Multidisciplinary) will present their work as Free Paper Presentations in the Scientific Arena during SEBRADII 2026, on a date and time to be determined.
Each presentation will consist of a 5-minute PowerPoint presentation.
All works presented as Free Paper Presentations will receive an Honorable Mention.
All other approved submissions will be presented in poster format.
Posters must be displayed in the designated area on August 20, 2026, and will remain on display throughout the event.
Poster presentations will not be subject to oral evaluation by the SEBRADII Scientific Committee.

- Printed poster
- Width: 0.80 m
- Height: 1.20 m
- Must include a hanging cord or equivalent support
The best works in the International Category will be presented as Free Paper Presentations in the Scientific Arena on a date and time established by the Committee; however, they are not eligible for the Sender Miszputen Award.
CHAPTER IV
Review Committee
Article 6
The Sender Miszputen Award Review Committee shall be responsible for selecting the three highest-ranked submissions in each category through a scoring process.
The Committee shall be appointed by the President of the 7th Brazilian Week of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (SEBRADII 2026) and shall consist of at least three members, including representatives of the GEDIIB Research Committee.
In selecting the top three scientific works, the Committee shall evaluate the following criteria:

In the event of a tie, the following tie-breaking criteria shall apply, in order:
- Scientific methodology
- Presentation of results
- Relevance and originality of the topic
CHAPTER V
Final Provisions
Article 7
The three highest-ranked scientific works in each category (Medical and Multidisciplinary) will be awarded first, second, and third place.
The final score for each work shall be calculated as the weighted average of two evaluations, as follows:
a) First Evaluation (80% of the Final Score)
Score assigned by the Review Committee during the abstract selection phase.
The score may range from 0 to 10 points.
b) Second Evaluation (20% of the Final Score)
Score assigned through audience voting during the Plenary Session.
Attendees will vote for the best work in each category using electronic voting devices.
- Most-voted work: 10.0 points
- Second place: 9.0 points
- Third place: 8.0 points
The winners will be announced and awarded during SEBRADII 2026 by the President of GEDIIB.
Article 8
Awards – Medical and Multidisciplinary Categories
First Place
BRL 4,000.00
Financial support for expenses related to the preparation and publication of the Original Article**, plus an Award Certificate.
Second Place
BRL 2,000.00
Financial support for expenses related to the preparation and publication of the Original Article**, plus an Award Certificate.
Third Place
BRL 1,500.00
Financial support for expenses related to the preparation and publication of the Original Article**, plus an Award Certificate.
Upon publication of the scientific work, the authors undertake to notify GEDIIB of the publication.
In addition, the following acknowledgment must be included in the published article:
“This study was conducted with financial support from GEDIIB (Brazilian Organization for Crohn’s Disease and Colitis).”
Failure to comply with this requirement shall constitute a breach of the conditions governing the financial support and may result in a request for full reimbursement of the amount received.
The financial support provided by GEDIIB may only be used for:
- Article translation services
- Statistical analysis
- Publication fees
- Purchase of supplies required for the development of the research project related to the winning work
Only expenses incurred after the announcement of the winners shall be eligible.
All expenses must be documented through a report and official invoices indicating the amounts claimed for reimbursement.
Payment of the award shall be made only after proof of payment for the relevant expense has been provided.
Submission of official invoices to the GEDIIB Treasury Department is mandatory.
The maximum period for requesting reimbursement is four months after the award ceremony, with a final deadline of December 31, 2026.
Article 9
The final decision of the Sender Miszputen Award Review Committee (GEDIIB Research Committee) shall be final and binding, with no possibility of appeal.
Any matters not addressed in these Regulations shall be resolved by the GEDIIB Research Committee.
