GUIDELINES FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION TO THE 7TH BRAZILIAN WEEK OF INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASE (SEBRADII 2026)

II – INSTRUCTIONS FOR ABSTRACT PREPARATION AND SUBMISSION
Scientific abstracts may include multiple authors with no limit on the number of contributors. However, at least one author must be registered for the 7th Brazilian Week of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (SEBRADII 2026), be a member of GEDIIB, and be in good standing with the organization.
The Executive Secretariat of SEBRADII 2026 shall determine the membership and financial status of the author(s) with GEDIIB.
Papers previously published as full articles in national or international journals are not eligible for submission to SEBRADII 2026.
Industry-initiated or industry-sponsored studies are subject to specific rules described in the Industry Abstract Submission Guidelines.
Abstracts may be submitted in Portuguese or English.
All information must comply with the instructions described below.
Authors are solely responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the information provided. Abstracts containing incomplete information or failing to comply with these guidelines will not be approved by the Review Committee.
Categories
During the submission process, authors must select the category that best corresponds to the abstract being submitted:
Medical Category
Defined according to the medical qualification of the first author.
If the first author is unable to present the work, the authors may appoint a substitute presenter, provided that the substitute also holds a medical degree.
Multidisciplinary Category
(Nursing, Nutrition, Psychology, Biomedical Sciences, Physical Therapy, Pharmacy, and related fields)
This category is defined according to the professional background of the first author.
If the first author is unable to present the work, the authors may appoint a substitute presenter, provided that the substitute has a non-medical professional background within the eligible multidisciplinary fields.
International Category
Defined by the institutional affiliation of the first author. The study must have been conducted, at least in part, at an institution located outside Brazil.
Type of Submission
At the time of submission, abstracts must be classified under one of the following categories according to the study design that best describes the work:
- Original Research
- Case Report(s) – Defined as studies including up to 9 cases. Studies including 10 or more cases will be considered Case Series Studies and must be submitted as Original Research.
- Indirect Research Presented as a Meta-analysis
Note: Literature reviews will not be accepted.
Title
The title must contain no more than 250 characters, be concise, and accurately reflect the subject of the study being presented.
Authors
The order of authors is the sole responsibility of the authors themselves.
There is no limit on the number of authors.
The first author must be the presenter of the work.
Abstract Body – Original Research and Meta-analysis
- The abstract must be written as a single body of text and must not exceed 250 words.
- A maximum of 3 images (tables and/or figures) may be included.
- The abstract must be structured in the following order:

Abstract Body – Case Report(s)

Results and Content Requirements
Results based on statements such as “results will be presented” or “data will be analyzed” will not be considered acceptable.
Likewise, abstracts will not be accepted if the results of a single study are divided and submitted across multiple abstracts.
Drug Names
Commercial or brand names are not permitted.
Only generic drug names may be used, written in lowercase letters.
Modifications After Submission
Once the submission process has been completed, authors will not be permitted to make changes to the content of the submitted abstract.
References
References must not be included in the electronic abstract submission.
Bibliographic references should be cited during the presentation of the work.
Sender Miszputen Award and Presentation Formats
The three best Original Research abstracts from the Medical and Multidisciplinary categories will compete for the Sender Miszputen Award and will be presented orally during a Plenary Session or in the Scientific Arena at the 7th Brazilian Week of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (SEBRADII 2026).
Presentations will consist of a 5-minute PowerPoint presentation, with no question-and-answer session. The date and time of the presentation will be communicated at a later stage.
Authors ranked 4th through 6th place in each category (Medical and Multidisciplinary) will be invited to present their work as Free Paper Presentations in the Scientific Arena during SEBRADII 2026, on a date and time to be determined.
These presentations will also consist of a 5-minute PowerPoint presentation, with no question-and-answer session.
All works presented as Free Paper Presentations will receive an Honorable Mention Certificate.
Poster Presentations
All other accepted abstracts will be presented in poster format.
Posters must be displayed in the designated area on August 20, 2026, and will remain on display throughout the event.
Poster presentations will not be subject to oral evaluation by the SEBRADII Scientific Committee.
Poster specifications:
- Printed poster
- Width: 0.80 m
- Height: 1.20 m
- Must include a cord or suitable hanging mechanism for display
International Category
The highest-ranked abstracts in the International Category will be presented as Free Paper Presentations in the Scientific Arena on a date and time to be established by the Scientific Committee.
Important Notice
All materials generated from submitted abstracts, including certificates and official records, will reproduce exactly the information provided during submission.
Therefore, it will not be possible to modify the title, abstract, author names, or any submitted information after the submission deadline.
Authors are solely responsible for the accuracy of all submitted information.
Names submitted in incomplete form (for example, using abbreviations or omitting one or more surnames) will not be corrected and will appear exactly as submitted in the official program and digital certificates.
Presenter Requirements
The first author must be the presenter of the work.
However, for abstracts competing for the Sender Miszputen Award and for those selected as Free Paper Presentations, if the first author is unable to attend, a substitute presenter may be appointed.
The substitute presenter must:
- Hold a medical degree for abstracts submitted to the Medical Category; or
- Hold qualifications in an eligible non-medical field for abstracts submitted to the Multidisciplinary Category.
Final Provisions
Decisions of the Review Committee
The final decision of the Review Committee shall be considered final, irrevocable, non-appealable, and shall not be subject to reconsideration.
Ethical Compliance
By submitting an abstract, the authors acknowledge and accept responsibility for complying with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards governing research involving human participants and animals, including approval by the appropriate Research Ethics Committees and Animal Research Ethics Committees, when applicable.
Right of Refusal
The Review Committee reserves the right to reject abstracts without providing justification for the decision.
Commitment to Present
Submission of an abstract constitutes a commitment by the author(s) to present the work during the event if it is accepted.
Responsibility for Content and Expenses
The Organizing Committee and Scientific Committee shall not be responsible for the content of presentations, posters, or any materials presented during the event. Full responsibility for such content rests solely with the authors.
Likewise, the Organizing Committee and Scientific Committee shall not be responsible for transportation, accommodation, registration fees, or any other expenses related to the presentation of accepted works.
